ITS-Services for traffic information or traffic management addressing the end-users require accurate data and information for their functioning as well as acceptance. To ensure the uptake of CROCODILE services by the end-users high-qualitative services will be disseminated. For the provision of end-user services the collection of safety critical data, truck parking data, as well as Level of Service (LoS) data including the management of these data for the road sections covered, as well as possible bypass routes is necessary.
Thus a basic prerequisite is the installation of the necessary infrastructure on the roads for monitoring and collection of the data. For this, the necessary sensor network (e.g. inductive loops, detectors, CCTV cameras) has to be implemented, upgraded, enhanced or adapted along the whole CROCODILE corridor network. The collected data will be transmitted to the traffic centres. There all data will be processed and form the basis for the end-user services based on quality requirements. Where necessary, soft- and hardware components or information and management modules need to be implemented or upgraded. Within the traffic centres interfaces to data stores need to be implemented to enable data exchange between hardware components, CROCODILE partners but as well to project external partners.
In particular the following ICT Infrastructure will be implemented respectively upgraded to ensure high-quality end-user services:
- Enhancement of the traffic monitoring network in Romania and Hungary with inductive loops
- Enhancement of the traffic monitoring network in Austria, Eastern Germany, Hungary and Romania by CCTV-Cameras
- Improvement of the road weather station network in Romania
- Improvement of the traffic monitoring and data exchange by upgrading and improvement of data subcentres in Eastern Germany.
- Planning and implementation of an innovative content management system for on air traffic announcement and digital distribution Traffic Centres:
- Upgrade of traffic control centres in Eastern Germany (Brandenburg, Sachsen and Sachsen-Anhalt) and Slovenia.
- Implementation or upgrading of motorway control systems in East Germany (Berlin) and Slovenia.
- Deployment of ITP considering the needs of the Priority Action c Delegated Regulation of the ITS Directive in Austria and Czech Republic.
